Main Article Content
Abstract
Vietnam does not yet have a set of professional competency standards for preventive medicine physicians. This study aims to provide common points on knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the professional competency of preventive medicine doctors worldwide. We utilized Rayyan and Note bookLM tools screen and chart from 14 Pubmed and Google Scholar documents (USA, Canada, Singapore, India, Saudi Arabia) to review from 2015 to 2025. The results show that the professional competency of preventive medicine doctors is comparable in (1) Basic knowledge: requires solid knowledge to solve complex public health problems. (2) Comprehensive skills: includes core skill sets such as clinical assessment & preventive care, epidemiology & disease surveillance, environmental & occupational health, health communication/advocacy, leadership/management, health program planning/evaluation, and academic/research competencies. (3) Professional attitude: share a common vision on the necessary core professional qualities. From this result, policy makers can draft a proposal for requirement of knowledge, skills, and attitudes in professional capacity for vietnamese physicians specialized in Preventive Medicine.
