Abstract

This study was conducted to determine TIMP-2 concentration in plasma of normal pregnant women and preeclamptic pregnant women (PE); The relationship between TIMP-2 concentration and some clinical and paraclinical indicators of PE pregnant women was performed on 240 pregnant women and determined by quantitative ELISA technique. The results of the standard curve construction, determination of 1/400 dilution and quantification of the average TIMP-2 concentration in plasma in the normal pregnant women group was 223.82 ± 136.67 ng/ml and the PE pregnant women group was 438.75 ± 185.38 ng/ml; TIMP-2 concentration in plasma of PE pregnant women was higher than normal pregnant women (p < 0.001). The study also showed a correlation between TIMP-2 concentration and clinical symptoms of blurred vision in pregnant women with preeclampsia (p=0.005).
