3. Single-nucleotide polymorphism rs3077 of HLA-DP gene in hepatitis C patients
Main Article Content
Abstract
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of the main causes of chronic viral hepatitis. Recent studies have shown that the risks of HCV infection and progression of chronic hepatitis C were associated with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) rs3077 of Human leukocyte antigen (HLA-DP) gene. This study was conducted on blood samples of 109 HCV-infected patients and 113 healthy controls to evaluate the relation between SNP rs3077 with the susceptibility of HCV infection and some characteristics of HCV-infected patients. SNP rs3077 was genotyped using allele-specific Realtime-PCR assay. The results showed that the distribution of genotypes GG, AG and AA was 45.9%, 39.4% and 14,7% in of HCV-infected group, respectively; while the distribution in the control group was 43,4%, 40.7% and 15.9%, but the difference was not statistically significant. The proportion of rs3077 genotypes according to age, gender, liver enzyme indexes was also not significantly different. In conclusion, SNP rs3077 in HLA-DP gene has no association with the susceptibility of HCV infection and some characteristics of HCV-infected patients.
