Abstract

Sleep disorders are increasingly recognized as a significant mental health concern among adults-the main labor force in society-due to their negative impact on the quality of life, work performance, and overall health. This cross-sectional study was conducted to describe the characteristics of sleep disorders among 1,760 adults residing in Tran Lam ward (Thai Binh City) and Thuy Duyen commune (Thai Thuy district), Thai Binh province, from August 2024 to January 2025. The results showed that 24.2% of participants had sleep disorders. Multivariate analysis revealed several factors significantly associated with sleep disorders, including: age > 41, female gender, rural residence, married with children, manual labor occupation, night or irregular shift work, , low household income, vegetarian diet, low frequency of sexual activity, and comorbidities such as cardiovascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, or autoimmune diseases. These findings highlight the urgent need for screening programs, early detection, and appropriate interventions to improve sleep quality, particularly among high-risk populations.
