Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 356 male students from four regular academic programs at the Thanh Hoa Branch of Hanoi Medical University in 2025. Data were collected through structured questionnaires to assess knowledge and attitudes regarding HPV vaccination. The findings revealed limited levels of knowledge and attitudes toward HPV infection and its preventive vaccine. The median knowledge score was 8 (interquartile range [IQR]: 4 – 11) on a 21-point scale, while the median attitude score was 4 (IQR: 3 – 6) on a 9-point scale. Significant differences were observed in mean knowledge scores across academic years and fields of study (p < 0.05), as well as in mean attitude scores across academic years and marital status (p < 0.05). These results highlight the need to strengthen health education and communication interventions to improve awareness and foster positive attitudes toward HPV vaccination among male students - an essential step in advancing HPV prevention strategies in the community.
