Abstract

This study aimed to assess the burnout status and analyze related factors among resident doctors at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 89 resident doctors from January to June 2025. Burnout was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory – Student Survey. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to examine the association between risk factors and burnout status. . The prevalence of burnout among resident doctors in the study was 21.3%. In univariate analysis, sleeping less than 6 hours per day increased the risk of burnout (OR = 3.600; 95% CI: 1.230 - 10.540; p = 0.016). Notably, moderate-intensity physical exercise was a statistically significant independent protective factor that reduced the risk of burnout (OR = 0.109; 95% CI: 0.012 - 0.967; p = 0.047) in both univariate and multivariate analyses. . In conclusion, regular exercise and sufficient sleep play an important role in preventing burnout among resident doctors and should be integrated into physical and mental health support programs.
