Treatment adherence and associated factors among patients with atopic diseases at Vinmec International Hospital in 2025

Abstract

Treatment adherence in patients with atopic diseases plays an important role in controlling symptoms, preventing complications, and improving quality of life. In Vietnam, research on treatment adherence among this group of chronic patients remains limited. This study aimed to describe the level of treatment adherence and explore some factors associated with adherence in atopic patients at Vimec International Hospital. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 225 atopic patients from January 2025 to June 2025. Treatment adherence was assessed using the General Medication Adherence Scale (GMAS). The study showed that 92% of patients adhered to treatment with a GMAS score ≥ 27. Disease duration and type of atopic disease were associated with treatment adherence (p < 0.05). Although the adherence rate in this patient group was quite high (92%), appropriate interventions are still needed to maintain and further increase the treatment adherence rate.
