Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are conditions that damage the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, ranging from mild to severe, which may reduce or even cause loss of work capacity. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2024 among 400 female electronic component assemblers in Hoa Binh, using the standardized Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire to determine the prevalence of MSDs. Results showed that 73.8% of workers reported experiencing MSDs in the past 12 months, most commonly in the neck–shoulder (57.3%), back (51.8%), and shoulder (49.8%) regions. In the last recent 7 days, 36.0% still had symptoms, mainly in the neck–shoulder (19.8%), lower back (17.3%), and back (16.0%). Most episodes of pain lasted 1-7 days; 34.8% of workers reported limitations in daily or leisure activities, and 30.3% sought medical consultation. The study highlights that MSDs are a prevalent occupational health problem among female workers in the electronic component industry, significantly affecting quality of life and requiring priority in occupational health care.
