Abstract

Dengue fever is endemic in Vietnam, with approximately 100,000 cases reported annually. This cross-sectional study was conducted among 500 clients at the vaccination clinic of Hanoi Medical University in 2024 to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding dengue prevention. The mean age of participants was 31.1 ± 9.4 years old; 70.4% were female and 91.8% lived in urban areas. Only 16.6% demonstrated adequate knowledge, 24.2% were aware of vaccine availability, while 64.8% were classified as having positive attitudes. In terms of practices, 75% regularly cleaned or covered water containers, 64.2% sprayed insecticide, 67% used bed nets, and 91.4% reported willingness to seek care when symptomatic. However, only 63.8% achieved adequate preventive practices overall. The findings highlight a clear gap between knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, emphasizing the need for strengthened health communication, improved trust in dengue vaccines, and promotion of sustained preventive behaviors, particularly among populations with limited access to health information.
