Outcomes of musculoskeletal diseases treated with platelet-rich plasma therapy

Abstract
The study was conducted to evaluate the results of treatment of musculoskeletal diseases with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. The descriptive, prospective study was conducted on 187 patients between January 2024 and September 2025 at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. The results showed that most patients (80.7%) had no side effect after injection, and only a few (19.3%) had mild pain at the injection site, with no other serious adverse event recorded. PRP showed significant pain relief after 3 months of treatment, with the average VAS pain score decreasing from 7.01 before treatment to 3.65, in which the group treated for osteoarthritis and trauma showed more significant effects than the group treated for inflammatory lesions. Most patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the results of PRP treatment (82.7%).
