Abstract

This study investigated endoscopic findings and the prevalence of intestinal metaplasia in patients with chronic gastritis, as well as the diagnostic value of linked color imaging (LCI) for detecting intestinal metaplasia. In this cross-sectional study of 258 patients, those aged 60 years and older accounted for 51.9%, and males comprised 41.5% of the study population. The prevalence of intestinal metaplasia confirmed by histopathology was 68.22%. LCI demonstrated a high true-positive rate, correctly identifying intestinal metaplasia in 162 of 258 patients (92.05%), with a low false-negative rate of only 14 of 258 patients (7.95%). However, the number of false-positive cases remained relatively substantial (37.8%). The diagnostic performance of LCI showed a sensitivity of 92%, specificity of 62.2%, positive predictive value of 83.9%, negative predictive value of 78.5%, and an overall accuracy of 82.6%.
