Abstract

Esophageal submucosal tumors are tumors of mesenchymal origin and are usually benign. These tumors include leiomyomas, stromal tumors, fibromas, and lipomas covered by normal mucosa and are often detected during esophagogastric endoscopy. Esophageal carcinoma presenting as a submucosal tumor is very rare. We report a case of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma presenting clinically and paraclinically as a submucosal tumor. Through this clinical case, we review clinical, paraclinical, and medical reports worldwide.
