Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a digital platform-based intervention in improving self-care behaviors and glycemic control among pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus. An intervention study was conducted on 342 pregnant women from January 2023 to February 2025 at Tran Hung Dao ward, Hung Yen province. 163 participants were assigned to the intervention group and 179 to the control group. The result: The intervention group had significantly higher scores in self-care behaviors (3.8 ± 1.0), physical activity (3.7 ± 2.4) and self-monitoring of blood glucose (1.5 ± 2.0) compared with the control group (3.3 ± 1.1; 2.8 ± 2.3; and 1.0 ± 1.9, respectively; p = 0.001). The pregnant women in the intervention group demonstrated a higher likelihood of glycemic control (HbA1c < 6.0%); however, the difference was not statistically significant after adjusting for pregestational body mass index and HbA1c levels at the time of diagnosis (OR = 1.94, 95%CI: 0.76 - 4.95.
