APOB gene polymorphisms (rs673548, rs676210, rs1042034) and associated factors in elderly patients with acute coronary syndromeat An Giang Central General Hospital

Abstract
Recently, several single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the APOB gene have been reported to be associated with cardiovascular risk factors and may thereby contribute to a more severe clinical presentation of acute coronary syndrome. An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on 438 patients aged ≥ 60 years old with acute coronary syndrome at An Giang Central General Hospital from January 2024 to January 2026. The APOB SNPs rs673548, rs676210, and rs1042034 were determined using real-time PCR. For rs673548, the genotype frequencies of AA, AG, and GG were 36.3%, 61.4%, and 2.3%, respectively; for rs676210, the corresponding frequencies were 46.6%, 44.3%, and 9.1%; and for rs1042034, the frequencies of CC, CT, and TT were 48.2%, 41.3%, and 10.5%, respectively. Association analysis showed that the GG genotype of rs673548 was associated with chronic kidney disease under the codominant and recessive models, and this association remained significant after multivariable logistic regression and multiple-testing correction. In contrast, no statistically significant associations were observed between the investigated APOB polymorphisms and hs-troponin, NT-proBNP, hs-CRP, or the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio. In summary, among the three APOB polymorphisms investigated, rs673548 may be associated with chronic kidney disease in older patients with acute coronary syndrome.
