Abstract

Spindle cell carcinoma is a rare variant of breast cancer which has been classified under the broad rubric of metaplastic carcinoma. Neoplasm characterized by differentiation of mesenchymal-looking elements and/or the epithelial structure, mimicking a sarcoma. Its prognosis remains poor, with a high rate of local recurrence and distant metastasis. We report a case of a 61-year-old woman who consulted our institution following palpation of a nodule of the left breast. The patient was diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma of the breast. The diagnosis was based primarily on histological and immunohistochemical studies.
