Effects of Tinh Ky soft pills on semen parameters in men with reduced sperm count and impaired sperm quality

Abstract
Tinh Ky soft pills consist of Radix Astragali membranacei, Rhizoma Polygonati, Rhizoma Curculiginis, and Cynomorium songaricum. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Tinh Ky soft pills on semen parameters in patients with impaired sperm count and quality. This open-label, non-controlled, pre–post clinical trial was conducted in 45 men with reduced sperm count and impaired sperm quality. Patients received 2 Tinh Ky soft pills orally twice daily for 70 days. After treatment, sperm concentration increased from 23.22 ± 12.65 to 25.78 ± 13.11 ×106/mL; progressive sperm motility increased from 25.47 ± 8.06% to 29.24 ± 9.03%; sperm viability increased from 54.04 ± 13.76% to 59.76 ± 12.32%; and the percentage of normal sperm morphology increased from 18.51 ± 13.15% to 25.91 ± 14.20% (p < 0.05). A good overall treatment outcome was observed in 40% of patients. Preliminary findings suggest that Tinh Ky soft pills may improve semen parameters in men with reduced sperm count and quality.
