Abstract

This study evaluated the effect of the S-Men preparation on the development of F1 mice born to male mice with impaired fertility induced by sodium valproate (NVP). Adult male mice were treated with NVP at 500 mg/kg/day, then orally administered S-Men at 1096 mg/kg/day and 2192 mg/kg/day before mating with healthy female mice. The parameters evaluated in the F1 generation included: pregnancy rate, total number of fetuses, live birth rate/mortality rate, number of offspring, survival rate, and postnatal weight change. The results showed that NVP in male mice tended to have reduce fertility and adversely affect offspring, as evidenced by a decrease in pregnancy rate and an increase in offspring mortality. Treatment with S-Men, particularly at 2192 mg/kg/day, tended to improve several reproductive and developmental parameters in F1 mice, although some parameters did not reach statistical significance. Preliminary results suggest that S-Men has the potential to support the recovery of reproductive function in mice.
