Early results of laparoscopic complete mesocolic excision with extracorporeal anastomosis for right colon cancer at the K Hospital

Abstract
To evaluate the early results of laparoscopic complete mesocolic excision for right colon cancer, a descriptive study was conducted on 56 patients with right-sided colon cancer who underwent laparoscopic surgery at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery 2, K Hospital from September 2023 to September 2025. The average surgical time was 130.4 ± 24.6 minutes (110 - 165 minutes), with no case required conversion to open surgery. 89.3% of cases had intact mesentery with an average of 20.5 ± 9.1 lymph nodes (10 - 28 nodes) removed. The complication rate was 5.4%, including 1 pneumonia case, 1 bleeding case, and 1 abscess case; there were no case of anastomotic leakage, reoperation, or surgical-related death post- surgery. The length of hospital stay was 7.9 ± 1.2 days (7 - 13 days). Laparoscopic complete mesocolic excision for right-sided colon cancer has good early results with a low complication rate and early postoperative recovery.
