Abstract
This study describe the clinical and paraclinical features and treatment outcomes of testicular torsion. A retrospective study was conducted on 84 patients diagnosed with testicular torsion and treated surgically at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from January 2020 to December 2025. Testicular torsion was most common in patients aged 10 to under 18 years old (53.6%). The most frequent presenting symptom was scrotal pain (97.6%). Testicular salvage was achieved in 58.3% of cases, whereas 41.7% underwent orchiectomy. Time from symptom onset to hospital admission, intraoperative testicular color, and preoperative Doppler vascular signal were significantly associated with surgical outcomes. The duration of 19 hours from symptom onset can be considered the ideal timeframe for predicting the clinical likelihood of orchiectomy due to testitular torsion (sensitivity 81%, specificity 89.6%). Testicular torsion is most common in adolescents and typically presents with characteristic clinical features. Early diagnosis and prompt surgical intervention are crucial for testicular salvage.
