Abstract

The satisfaction of parents with preterm infants is one of the important aspects assessing the
quality of health care for preterm infants. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and
reliability of a scale to assess the satisfaction of parents of premature infants with the healthcare
services. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 340 parents at the neonatal departments
of the National Children’s Hospital and Thanh Hoa Provincial Children’s Hospital. Using factor
analysis, the results showed that the general Cronbach's Alpha for the scale was 0.86 and, for each
of the 3 factors of quality of care and treatment, communication, and hospital environment, the
Cronbach’s Alpha values were 0.73, 0.88, and 0.78, respectively. In conclusion, the 11-item scale is
a valid and reliable measure of the satisfaction of care of parents with premature infants in Vietnam.
