Abstract

This cross-sectional study surveyed 29,005 workers from 9 private hospitals in Vietnam to
describe the job satisfaction and factors associated with having high job satisfaction. The average
age was 32.82 ± 9.57 years old, and 69.35% were women. The most common occupation was
nurses and midwives (44.35%). General satisfaction about the hospital and about leadership
and colleagues had the highest score with 4.25 and 4.23 (range of 1 - 5), respectively, while the
satisfaction regarding income had the lowest score of 4.11. Some factors related to higher job
satisfaction included being male, holding leadership position, and working as administrative staff.
Having two or more jobs concurrently and the higher number of monthly duty shifts were associated
with lower level of job satisfaction. Further studies are needed to understand the reasons for different
levels of satisfaction and to improve the quality of work environment in private health facilities.
