Abstract

This study aimed to assess the quality of life (QoL) and investigate the risk factors associated with decreased QoL score among thyroid carcinoma patients after thyroidectomy. Between January 2021 and August 2021, 125 patients with confirmed diagnosis of thyroid carcinoma and who had ≥ 6 months since their thyroidectomy at Hanoi Medical University Hospital were surveyed using the questionnaire EORTC – C30 to assess QoL at the time of follow-up visit. The results showed that the mean QoL score was 91.76 ± 6.30 (on a scale from 0 to 100 with 100 points being the best possible QoL). Multivariable regression analyses indicated that being female, having laryngeal nerve damage, stage of disease, time of I131 treatments, and deficiency or excess of thyroid hormone were independent risk factors associated with decreased QoL score.
