Postoperative analgesic efficacy of ultrasound - guided erector spinae plane block in coronary artery bypass graft surgery

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the efficacy of postoperative pain control by the ultrasound-guided ESP (erector spinae plane) block in coronary artery bypass graft surgery comparing to PCA morphine. We found that ESPB group had a statistically significant VAS score at rest over PCA morphine group (p ≤ 0.05) at from 12 h after patients' extubation and significant VAS score during exertion from six hours after extubation. There was no difference for extubation time but the study group had significant shorter stay time in the ICU than the control group (p ≤ 0,05). Our study showed that the ESP block serve optimal postoperative pain control management, significantly decrease postoperative morphine consumption, decrease adverse effects of morphine and shorten patient’s length of stay in the ICU.
