Phẫu thuật lấy nẹp vít xương hàm mặt là phẫu thuật loại trung bình và nhỏ thường được can thiệp dưới gây mê. Gần đây, các tác giả trên thế giới đã và đang sử dụng TCI propofol cho các phẫu thuật tương tự với nhiều ưu điểm, tuy nhiên tại Việt Nam phương pháp này chưa được áp dụng. Nghiên cứu RCT của chúng tôi đã thực hiện so sánh trên 60 bệnh nhân tháo nẹp xương hàm được gây mê thường quy hoặc TCI propofol kết hợp gây tê tại chỗ bằng lidocain 2%. Kết quả cho thấy hiệu quả mê của hai phương pháp là tương đồng với các chỉ số mức độ mê, mức độ đau và độ hợp tác của bệnh nhân. Ngoài ra, thời gian an thần/gây mê và phẫu thuật của nhóm TCI (54,80 ± 8,21 phút) ngắn hơn có ý nghĩa (p < 0,05) so với nhóm gây mê toàn thân (63,33 ± 21,15 phút).
