Abstract

The SCOPA-AUT score is a valuable and reliable tool to assess autonomic dysfunction in Parkinson's patients. The value of the SCOPA-AUT score has been studied and proven around the world. However, in Vietnam, there are still no  study using this scale to assess autonomic function in Parkinson's patients fully. Therefore, we carried out this study  to evaluate the characteristics of autonomic neuropathy in Parkinson's patients based on the SCOPA-AUT score and the relationship between the SCOPA-AUT score and the severity of the disease. The results showed that   the rate of autonomic abnormalities was highest in the group of digestive symptoms, followed by cardiovascular and urinary symptoms. The total average score of SCOPA-AUT is 8.64 ± 6.4. The average score of SCOPA - AUT component was highest in group with digestive disorders followed by urinary disorders, and cardiovascular diseases with the corresponding values: 3.85 ± 2.68; 1.92 ± 2.69; 1.55 ± 1.77. There was no difference in the SCOPA score for each organ system between males and females. There is a relationship between the total score of SCOPA-AUT  and the severity of Parkinson's disease  according to the Hoehn & Yahr classification (Pearson correlation coefficient r = 0,3; p < 0,05).
