25. Lipid metabolism disorders and steatotic liver disease in pediatric obesity

Abstract

Obesity is a pathological condition characterized by abnormal or excessive fat deposits that can impair health including dyslipidemia and steatotic liver disease. 437 children from of 5 to 18 years old classified as obese were included in this cross sectional, respective, descriptive at the Vietnam National Children's Hospital from June 2023 to June 2024. . In our cohort, children aged from 5 - 10 years old accounted for 70.02% where the male: female ratio was 1.8:1. The percentage of children with hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia and steatotic liver disease were 12.21%, 19.59% and 48.08%, respectively. The proportion of steatotic liver disease in severely obese children was higher than the mildly obese children, and higher in males than in females.
