Abstract

Nutrition plays an important role in human health and development, especially during the early years of life. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 148 children under 5 years of age who visited Saint Paul Hospital from July 2024 to July 2025. This study aimed to assess the nutritional status and related factors in these children. All 148 children were from Hanoi. The prevalence of underweight, stunting and wasting was 7.43%, 12.16%, and 12.84%, respectively. The prevalence of overweight/obesity is also a significant concern, accounting for 5.41%. Zinc and iron deficiencies were very common, with high rates of 65.71% and 63.27%, respectively. Vitamin D deficiency is another notable issue, affecting 18.24% of the children. These findings reflect the global general trend of the triple burden of malnutrition (undernutrition, overweight/obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies) in children, particularly among those visiting the hospital.
