Outcomes of Early Essential Newborn Care and Breastfeeding at Gia Lam General Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
Early Essential Newborn Care (EENC) and Breastfeeding (BF) are crucial interventions to reduce neonatal mortality. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 171 mother-infant pairs at Gia Lam General Hospital from May 2023 to September 2023. The results showed that the EENC completion rate was 84.2%, and the exclusive breastfeeding rate was 73.7%. The average skin-to-skin contact duration was 84.95 ± 29.02 minutes. Cesarean section was identified as the main risk factor for incomplete EENC. Meanwhile, the risk factors for non-exclusive breastfeeding included both cesarean section and prior failure to complete EENC. The study recommends implementing measures to reduce the rate of cesarean sections and to improve the quality of EENC implementation.
