Abstract

Hematology patients often require multiple admissions for treatment; this study aimed to determine the waiting time and related factors of the fast-track admission channel at the Hospital of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. A cross-sectional descriptive study (12/2024 - 06/2025) was conducted on 169 patients, using data extracted from electronic health records and experience questionnaires. Results: The successful admission rate was 86.4%, with Ho Chi Minh City residents having a higher success rate than patients from other provinces (p < 0.05). The mean total waiting time was 82.8 ± 18.3 minutes, with the laboratory wait being the longest (41.0 ± 11.7 min). Total waiting time showed no significant difference (p > 0.05) by socio-demographic characteristics. Admission waiting time was significantly and positively associated with perceived delays at the reception stage and waiting at the sample collection stage. The fast-track channel has shortened waiting times; however, improvements are needed for the laboratory stage and standardization of the treatment order review process to increase the success rate.
