Abstract

Tue Tinh Herbal Tea is a tea-bag product formulated from traditional herbs medicinal, including Ganoderma lucidum, Adenosma caeruleum, Lonicera japonica, Jasminum sambac, Cleistocalyx operculatus, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. This study aimed to screen selected in vitro biological activities of the aqueous extract of Tue Tinh Herbal Tea. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH radical scavenging assay. Anti-inflammatory activity was investigated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages by assessing nitric oxide (NO) production and the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Hepatoprotective activity was assessed in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced HepG2 cells using the MTT assay. The results demonstrated that this product exhibited notable antioxidant activity (SC50 = 54.58 ± 3.32 µg/mL), dose-dependent inhibition of NO production (IC50 = 59.52 ± 2.17 µg/mL), and reduced levels of IL-1β and IL-6. Moreover, Tue Tinh Herbal Tea showed protective effects against CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity with an EC50 value of 56.93 ± 4.71 µg/mL. These findings suggest that Tuệ Tĩnh herbal tea possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective potential in vitro, providing preliminary scientific evidence to support further mechanistic and in vivo investigations.
