Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate disease control status, quality of life (QoL), and associated factors among patients with chronic urticaria (CU). A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed on 50 outpatients with CU attending the Outpatient Department of Hanoi Medical University Hospital from January 2025 to January 2026. Disease status was assessed using the UAS7, UCT, and CU-QoL questionnaires. 58% of participants were female, with the majority (66%) between 18 – 39 years old. 96% had uncontrolled disease (96%). Pruritus (mean score: 3.39 ± 0.95) and sleep disturbances (mean score: 2.78 ± 0.97) were the domains that most adversely affected the quality of life. The corresponding CU-QoL scores were 3.39 ± 0.95 and 2.78 ± 0.97, respectively. The study also found a strong negative correlation between disease control (UCT score) and impairment in quality of life (r = −0.74; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that chronic urticaria imposes a substantial burden on patients’ quality of life and remains difficult to achieve complete control in routine clinical practice.
