Our study aimed to describe the clinical features of depressive disorders among patients with heart failure treated at the National Heart Institute - Bach Mai Hospital. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study of 128 patients diagnosed for heart failure and treated at the National Heart Institute, Bach Mai hospital. Results: The highest proportion were patients older than 70 years old (40.1%). The mean age of patients with depression was higher than patients without depression (p < 0.05). There were more women than men. Depression often appeared in patients with heart failure for less than 1 year (31.7%), had the NYHA class III (56.7%), and were at mild level (66.7%). Most patients had depressive symptoms such as decreased energy and increased fatigue (90%). The majority had sleep disturbance (96.7%), followed by eating disorder symptoms (73.3%), and symptoms of pessimism about the future (48.3%). The rate of suicidal ideation or behaviors was low. In the group with NYHA II, there were no case of patients with suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior. However, in the group with NYHA class III/IV, there were 3 cases of guilty ideas and 2 cases of suicidal ideation or behavior.
