Abstract

This study is to explore the knowledge for the diagnosis and treatment of dementia and associated factors among final-year general medical students at Hanoi Medical University in 2021. This was a cross-sectional study, using a quantitative research method with data collected by questionnaires on 499 medical students. The percentage of total correct answers on dementia knowledge was 68.45%, only 30.86% of students answered correctly about the prevalence of dementia and 17.64% answered correctly about the type of dementia screening test. Some factors associated with the classification of dementia knowledge are theoretical training, clinical training and participation in seminars on dementia. The results show that the knowledge of final-year general medical students about dementia was not comprehensive. Theoretical training about dementia should be encouraged in medical educational institutions.
