Abstract

This study characterized the clinical features of epilepsy in patients with hippocampal sclerosis on regular magnetic resonance imaging at Tam Anh General Hospital. Using the cluster description method, 100 patients were diagnosed with hippocampal sclerosis-related epilepsy at Tam Anh General Hospital from March 2022 to May 2022. Results: epilepsy patients had hippocampal atrophy that appeared at any age, usually starting at the end of the first decade, dominant in the 10 - 19 age group (31%), with the same proportion of male and female. The most common clinical form of seizure is generalized seizures, in which up to 43% of cases have aura. Before treatment, the frequency of attacks is very frequent. In most cases, a combination of antiepileptic drugs is required. In the attack control group with two or more groups of antiepileptic drugs, the rate of drug resistance accounts for 60%. Severe hippocampal atrophy is 2.38 times more resistant than mild.
