5. Initial assessment of the results of transperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy in the treatment of prostate cancer

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the results of transperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy in the treatment of prostate cancer. This was a non-controlled clinical intervention in 17 patients with prostate cancer treated at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from May 31, 2021 to the end of May 31, 2022. The mean age was 62.5 ± 5.13. The mean surgery time was 209 ± 42 minutes, the average blood loss was 420 ± 168ml. Early complications including functional bowel obstruction and urine leakage occurred in 3/17 cases. Pathology after surgery showed 2/17 cases had lymph node metastasis. After 1 month of surgery, 8/17 cases had biochemical recurrence. After 6 months of surgery, 8/10 cases did not have urinary incontinence (UI), 8/10 cases had erectile dysfunction, and there was no cases of urethral stricture. The results suggested transperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy is safe and has good clinical and functional efficacy for patients.
