13. Early outcomes of digital flexible ureterorenoscopy in the treatment of urinary stone at Ha Noi Medical University Hospital

Abstract

This study evaluates the early outcomes of digital flexible ureteroscopy in the treatment of kidney stones. A retrospective study was conducted in 84 patients between June 2021 and June 2022. The mean age of patients was 49.9 ± 13.6. The percentage of male and female was 67.9% and 32.1%, respectively. The average stone size in the study was 12.6 ± 3.3 mm. There were 69% of patients who did not need JJ stent before lithotripsy and 31% of patients needed JJ stent in which the main cause was ureteral stricture. Ureteral access sheath size 12 was used in 95.2% of the patients and size 14F was used in 4.8%. Only 1 patient (1.2%) did not receive JJ stent after lithotripsy and the remaining 98.8% of patients received JJ stent in which the majority of patients received JJ 6 (63.1%). The rate of stone clearance immediately after lithotripsy was 88.1% and after 1 month, the rate was 91.7%. The average surgical time was 56.4 ± 14.5 minutes and the average hospital stay was 1.4 ± 1.1 days. The rate of complications grade I and II according to Clavien-Dindo classification was 7.2% and 8.4%, respectively. We did not record any patients with complications of grade III or higher. Thus, digital flexilble ureterscopy has a high stone free rate and low early complications in the treatment of urinary stones ≤ 20mm.
