Abstract

The study described the factors related to the “onset to door” time (from having the first symptoms to admission in hospital) in acute ischemic stroke patients. This study was conducted with 214 patients with acute ischemic stroke between 7/2021 and 8/2022 at Hanoi Medial University Hospital and Ha Dong General Hospital. The results showed that the median “onset to door” time was 8,8 hours (interquartile range: 1,87 - 66 hours, range: 0,5 – 144 hours), with 37,9% had onset to door time < 6 hours. Univariate analysis showed that there were 9 factors related to having onset to door time < 6 hours: education level above high school (OR = 3, 95%CI: 1.4 - 6.5), being civil servants/retirees ( OR = 2.6, 95%CI: 1.5 - 4.6), having NIHSS score ≥ 16 (OR = 8.3, 95%CI: 4.1 - 16.8), having observer nearby (OR = 2.6, 95%CI: 1.4 - 4.6), seeking aid (OR = 6.1, 95%CI: 3.3 - 11.2), calling 115  (OR = 8,3, 95%CI: 2.3 - 30.1), being transported by ambulance (OR = 8.3, 95%CI: 2.3 - 30.1), having distance to hospital < 10km (OR = 1.8, 95%CI: 1 - 3,2), and having knowledge about stroke (OR = 6.6, 95%CI: 2.7 - 16.3). Multivariate analysis showed that there were 2 factors independently related to hospital time < 6 hours: having NIHSS score ≥ 16 (OR = 4.4, 95%CI: 1.8 - 10.3) and seeking aid (OR = 4.1, 95%CI: 1.9 - 8.4).
