Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the correlation between NT-proBNP concentrations with SOFA score, APACHE II score and procalcitonin levels in patients with severe infection, septic shock (SI/SS). 57 patients diagnosed with severe infections and septic shock at the Center of Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care of Viet Duc University Hospital from September 2016 to September 2017. Sampling of NT- proBNP concentration at N1 - when started diagnosis SI/SS; N3 – 3th day after treatment and N5 – 5th day after treatment were recorded with SOFA score, APACHE II score and procalcitonin levels. NT–proBNP concentration moderately correlated with SOFA score (r = 0.572) and APACHE II score (r = 0,536) and weakly correlated with procalcitonin concentration (r = 0.385). Our study showed that NT-proBNP concentration was moderately correlated to the degree of organ dysfunction and not correlated to the procalcitonin level of infection in SI/SS patients.
