Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of An Nguyet Khang tablets on uterine smooth muscle. The effect of An Nguyet Khang tablets on uterine smooth muscle was evaluated in an isolated uterus model in Wistar rats and an oxytocin-induced dysmenorrhea model in Swiss mice. The result on isolated rat uterine model showed that An Nguyet Khang tablets at both doses of 132.4 mL/100ml Tyrod and 264.8 mg/100ml Tyrod significantly reduced the frequency and amplitude of uterine contractions. With dysmenorrhea model-caused oxytocin in Swiss mice, An Nguyet Khang tablets with both doses of 1.3 g/kg/day and 2.6 g/kg/day taken continuously for 7 days tend to reduce abdominal pain. Thus, An Nguyet Khang tablets derived from medicinal herbs show a reduction of uterine smooth muscle contraction and consequently relieve pain due to uterine contraction in the isolated uterine model and dysmenorrhea model.
