Abstract
Total colon aganglionosis (TCA) is a serious, rare form of gastrointestinal aganglionosis. Full assessment of clinical and paraclinical symptoms facilitates treatment. The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of TCA patients undergoing laparoscopic assisted with Duhamel procedure at the National Children's Hospital from 2013 to 2018. This was a retrospective descriptive method of 33 patients undergoing laparoscopic assisted with the Duhamel procedure. Research results show that the male/female ratio was 1.7/1. All patients were diagnosed based on biopsy results without nerve nodes in the colon and ileum and underwent ileostomy. Neonatal intestinal obstruction or neonatal peritonitis represented 81.8%. Common complications were erosive dermatitis around the ileostomy (30.3%), intestinal prolapse (15.2%), and a high rate of malnutrition in patients prior to surgery (33.3%). The study shows clinical and paraclinical characteristics in patients with TCA, serving future treatment and surgery.
