Main Article Content
Abstract
A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to survey a number of behavioral and emotional problems and identify related factors in ethnic minority boarding high school students in Lang Son province in 2023. There were 846 students grade 6 to12 in four ethnic boarding high schools participating in the study. The Child Behavior Checklist - CBCL was used. Results showed that social problems (10.3%) and thought problems (10.1%) had the highest prevalence. The rates of students with internalizing problems, externalizing problems and general problems were 17.6%; 18.1% and 17.6%, respectively. Students living with ≥ 10 people, poor friendship quality, and exposure to adverse childhood events increase the likelihood of having behavioral and emotional disorders. Interventions to improve the mental health of students in these schools are urgently needed, taking into account factors related to friendships and adverse childhood experiences.
