13. Attention - deficit hyperactivity disorder in asthmatic children with obstructive sleep apnea
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cross-sectional study on 84 pediatric patients diagnosed with asthma and obstructive sleep apnea at the Immunology-Allergy-Rheumatology department of the National Children’s Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 to describe the frequency incidence, clinical characteristics and some factors related to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the above group of children. 36.9% of asthmatic children with obstructive sleep apnea were diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Predominantly inattentive attention deficit hyperactivity disorder was the most common in the study (26.2%). There is no relationship between asthma control and attention deficit hyperactivity. Obstructive sleep apnea is a risk factor for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in asthmatic children with apnea (OR = 4.83; 95%CI: 2.43 - 9.59).
