45. Safety and immediate outcome of cryoablation technique for pulmonary vein isolation in the treatment of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
Main Article Content
Abstract
To preliminarily assess the safety and immediate outcome of pulmonary vein isolation using cryoablation in the initial treatment of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, we conducted the procedure on 15 patients. Safety was determined based on the occurrence of adverse events, while procedural efficacy was evaluated based on the successful isolation of the pulmonary veins. The average duration of atrial fibrillation was 10 ± 12 months, with a mean frequency of 6.1 ± 7.1 episodes per month. All patients had a low risk of bleeding, with the majority being at high risk of stroke (73%). Complete isolation of the pulmonary veins was achieved in all patients, with fluoroscopy and total ablation times averaging 14 ± 8 minutes and 125 ± 32 minutes, respectively. No procedure-related complication was observed. Further research with a larger sample size and extended follow-up period is needed to accurately assess the efficacy of reducing atrial arrhythmia recurrence.
