Main Article Content
Abstract
This was a cross-sectional descriptive study on 100 major orthopedic surgery patients with blood transfusion at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Research results show that 60% of 100 patients were female and the average age was 62,67 ± 17,92 years old. Hip replacement surgery was most frequent at 40% of total cases. The average hospitalized duration was 8,87 ± 4,81 days, with an average hemoglobin concentration of 123,42 ± 19,27 g/l. Most patients had hemoglobin declined on the 3rd day at 94,34 ± 12,9 g/l. Patients were admitted for blood transfusion most frequently on the first and third day of hospitalization, averaging 2,92 ± 2,05 blood units/patient.
