The reality and demand for using human resources of bachelor in nutrition in Vietnam in 2020

Abstract

This study is to describe the reality and the demand for college graduate in nutrition in Vietnam in 2020. We conducted a survey of 40 institutions that have a nutritional program. In hospitals, college graduates with a bachelor degree in nutrition represented 1.3 ± 2.0 among the total nutritional staffs; for other institutions, the average number of bachelors of nutrition was 1.8 ± 2.2 out of 5.3 ± 5.5 employees. Bachelor of Nursing was the primary labor force in the Department of Nutrition in hospitals with an average number of 2.0 ± 2.4, followed by General doctor (1.9 ± 1.7). The demand for recruitment of a bachelor in nutrition in hospitals was twice as high as in other institutions. The demand for competence of bachelor in nutrition was noticeably higher in nutritional counseling, public presentations on healthcare matter and menus planning representing 91.9%, 89.2% and 89.2% respectively. The need for competencies and career positions were varied depending on the recruiting institutions.
