3. Ultrasound characteristics of fetal omphalocele and results of genetic analysis
Main Article Content
Abstract
A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 121 pregnant women with fetuses diagnosed with omphalocele via prenatal ultrasound at the Prenatal Diagnosis Center – National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, from January 2020 to May 2022. The results showed that the mean maternal age was 30.23 ± 6.25 years old. The mean gestational age at diagnosis was 16.76 ± 4.76 weeks old. The average size of the omphalocele was 22.99 ± 18.60 mm. Isolated omphalocele accounted for 60.33% of cases, while 39.67% were associated with additional structural anomalies, predominantly congenital heart defects.Genetic testing by amniocentesis was performed in 52.07% of patients, where chromosomal abnormalities were detected in 26.98%, most commonly trisomy 18, followed by trisomy 13 and trisomy 21.
