Knowledge, attitude and practice of hand washing among secondary school students and their associated factors

Abstract
This cross-sectional study assessed the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of hand washing (HW) among 420 secondary school students and analyzed some associated factors associated with good knowledge, attitude and practice. Our results showed that 41% of the students reported adequate knowledge of HW, and 70.2% had good attitude about hand washing with soap (HWWS). The proportions of students with good HW practice at home and at school were 62.8% and 41.7%, respectively. The proportions of students practiced HWWS at home and at school were 53.6% and 35.2%, respectively. Good KAP were significantly associated with grade level, parenting, using cell phone and personal computer.
