Evaluation of surgical outcomes for glanular and coronal hypospadias repair

Abstract
We conducted this study to choose the appropriate surgical techniques for the clinical characteristics of glanular, coronal hypospadias and to evaluate the repair outcomes. This is a descriptive study in patients with hypospadias undergoing surgery. The mean age of 61 patients was 4 years old. 47 cases (77%) had glanular hypospadias and 14 cases (23%) had coronal hypospadias. Penile shaft straightness was 100% (47/47) in glanular cases and 42.9% (6/14) in coronal cases. Meatal stenosis occurred in 25.5% (12/47) of glanular cases and 92.9% (13/14) of coronal cases. Among patients with coronal hypospadias, 28.6% (4/14) had a deep urethral groove. The overall success rate of surgery was 100% (61/61). This result shows that the Mustardé and modified Mathieu techniques for coronal hypospadias, as well as meatal advancement and Y–V plasty for glanular hypospadias, have high success rates.
