Abstract

Carotid artery stenting is a minimally invasive method with a high success rate and low complications. 78 patients were included in the study to evaluate the results of stenting for extracranial internal carotid artery stenosis at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from January 2022 to August 2025. The results revealed that 85.9% were male, the average age was 70 years old, 64.1% had symptomatic carotid stenosis, 78.2% had severe carotid stenosis on percutaneous transluminal carotid angiography. All procedures were successful, the major ischemic stroke rate was 1.3%, the hemorrhage rate was 1.3%, and the new event rate within 30 days was 0%. Extracranial carotid artery stenting is a relatively safe, minimally invasive, and effective procedure with a low complication rate.
