Abstract

This study applied planned behavioral theory (TPB) to analyze the relationship between the intention to drink alcohol in the next three months and attitudes, subjective norms, and perceptive behavior control in 421 students of the Hanoi Medical College in 2019.The results showed that the three factors: "attitude of benefits", "subjective norm" and "perceptive of behavior control" about drinking were positively related to intention to drink and explained 46.8% of the variance of the outcome intention to drink for the next 3 months. The regression coefficient for “subjective norms” had the largest magnitude and the coefficient for “attitude of benefits” was the lowest. Schools need to organize communication programs to promote the culture of not drinking mong students. The media should focus on content to discuss the benefits of abstaining from drinking alcohol.
